Matiass Jansons
The artists home “Silkes” has an indivisible importance in the development of artistic talent. The familiy continues to work there already in the third generation. Side by side with parents – sculptors Andrejs Jansons & Maija Baltina work by hard sculptures materials (granit) in their home atelier in Cesis. The artist highlights the movement and shape as a main keynote of expression, most often involving abstract woman and fish images. In his works the focus is on formal solution – generalized edges or smooth planes with a decorative effect. Matiass Jansons expresses a harmonious and balanced interplay between the created image and material.
